




The Passing of Joseph (Joe) Gill – Mullaghadoey, Castlerea, Roscommon
With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph (Joe) Gill, of Mullaghadoey, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon, who departed this life on January 30th, 2025, in the loving care of the compassionate staff at Roscommon Hospice.
Predeceased by his beloved brother John (Jack) and his dear sisters Bridie (Murray), Margaret (Trodden), and Rosaleen (Greally), Joe will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Patricia, his loving children PJ, Brian, Kathleen, and Mary, and his cherished grandchildren Sophia, Liam, Emma, and Grace.
Joe’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his sisters Sr. Chris (Drogheda), Sr. Elizabeth (Ballinasloe), and Ann (Mannion, Dunmore), his daughter-in-law Debbie, his son-in-law Bernard (Benny), Mary’s partner Paul, PJ’s partner Eileen, as well as his brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours, and many dear friends.
The Gill family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who cared for Joe at home, as well as the dedicated staff of Roscommon University Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe, and the Roscommon Hospice.
In honour of Joe’s memory, the family kindly requests no flowers, please. Donations, if desired, may be made to Mayo Roscommon Hospice, in recognition of the care and support he received. The house will remain private, please. Joe will be fondly remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family and community. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.
Funeral Arrangements
Monday, February 3rd, 2025 – Joe will repose at Gaynor’s Funeral Home, Castlerea, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Removal will take place afterward to St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea.
Tuesday, February 4th, 2025 – A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea, followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
