The Passing has occurred of Laurence Henson from Church Street, Strokestown, Roscommon. Formerly of Bray, Co. Wicklow, and a native of Glasgow, Scotland
With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Laurence Henson, who departed this life at his home in Strokestown, surrounded by love and in the devoted care of his beloved partner, Ruth.
A man of great creativity and warmth, Laurence will be deeply missed by Ruth, his sons Stephen (Glasgow) and Peter (Swansea), his loving daughters-in-law Audrey and Kath, and his adored grandchildren Nicky, David, and Hannah. He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends. His presence will be particularly missed by his colleagues in the film industry and his fellow poets, whose lives he enriched with his passion for storytelling and the arts.
Laurence’s kindness, wisdom, and artistic spirit touched all who knew him. His love for literature, poetry, and cinema was a source of inspiration, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
Funeral Arrangements
Laurence will repose at McHugh’s Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72) on Friday, February 14th, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place the following morning, Saturday, February 15th, at 11:00 am in Strokestown Parish Church, followed by burial in Strokestown Cemetery.
