Remembering Martin
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Martin ‘Makie’ Corcoran of Davis Road, Shantalla, Galway, on Sunday, April 6th, 2025. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Martin’s unexpected departure has left an unfillable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Born and raised in the close-knit community of Shantalla, Martin was a warm, humorous, and deeply loyal man whose presence lit up every room. Known affectionately as “Makie” to those closest to him, he carried a deep love for family, community, and the simple joys in life. His sudden departure has brought great sorrow to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Family and Legacy
Martin was predeceased by his loving parents, Michael and Bridget Corcoran, and by his dear brothers Stephen and Michael Jnr.
Left to mourn his loss are his devoted daughters Hannah and Kayleigh, and his precious grandchildren Isabelle and Theo, who were the light of his life. He will be sorely missed by his loving sisters Mary, Bernie, Bridie, Cathy, and Anne, as well as his brothers Terry and Sean.
Extended Family
He also leaves behind a close circle of extended family—sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a wide network of friends and neighbours—each touched in some way by Martin’s kindness, laughter, and generous spirit.
