The Passing of Mary Evelyn Burson (née Whelan) from Leixlip, Kildare & Westport, Mayo & Melbourne, Australia
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Evelyn Burson (née Whelan), who peacefully passed away on the 11th of February, surrounded by her devoted family. Mary, known affectionately as Maisie, was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late David and a loving mother to her children Colin, Trevor, Audrey, and Gwen. She was a treasured mother-in-law to Carolyn, Sharon, Darren, and Arnoud. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her adored grandchildren—David, Rebecca, Andrew, Katie, Isabelle, and James—and her great-grandchildren—Dean, Emelyn, Hailey, and Dara. She is also survived by her loving siblings, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends across Ireland and Australia.
Mary’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was an incredibly kind-hearted woman who touched the lives of many with her generosity, warmth, and unwavering love. Mary will be deeply missed by all her loved ones in both Ireland and Australia.
Funeral Arrangements
Mary’s funeral will take place at Tobin Brothers Funeral Home in Melbourne, Australia. There will be a private reposing for family and close friends on Sunday, 16th February, beginning at 11:00 PM Irish time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary’s memory to the Peninsula Home Hospice, where she received exceptional care in her final days.
Mary will forever be remembered for her love, her kindness, and the joy she brought to the lives of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
